His predecessor did not resign he was brutally removed from office and as a consequence lost not only his post but also his life.
He was not particularly hard on the Karens or Shans but it is in his nature to do the hateful and put everybody he encounters in harm's way
Remember there were Ethnic minorities -supported by some unscrupulous western governments- who opposed democratic form of government soon after Burma regained independence from Great Britain They were rebels and not much different from modern terrorists during the democratically elected government of Burma between 1948 and 1962.
Now we have such elements opposing both the government and the peaceloving peoples(including Shans Karens Kachins..) acting like terrorists and the governing junta also contributing to the reign of terror to the people of all races living in Burma. The only way for people of Burma to overcome such awesome hurdles would be through educational opportunities for its citizens and research opportunities for its academicians. No arms struggles . Just education for Shans Kachins Karens Burmese Jingphaws ..It will take time but that is the only longterm solution . The Army people are giving themselves their own degrees from their own institutions they need proper education too..Priorities to the ordinary students and scholars in modern science , modern medical technology and mordern physics related disciplines...not in disciplines that the West deem necessary but in areas such as advanced studies in basic sciences and economics

I could not find any word to express my feelings whenever we talk about him and his brutal cabinet, once the golden land now becomes garbage, polluted in the ASEAN region. Worst than Mugabe of Zimbarbwe, cause Mugabe even had an idea of HOW, WHEN and WHO he had to deal to save the country.
