Australia's Prime Minister Backs Republic After Queen's Death

-- BBC News reported on August 17, 2010:

"Australia should become a republic when Queen Elizabeth II dies, Prime Minister Julia Gillard has said just days ahead of a general election.

Welsh-born Ms Gillard said the Queen's death would be an "appropriate point" for Australia to move away from having a British monarch as head of state.

Australians voted against becoming a republic in a 1999 referendum, but the issue continues to be divisive.

Ms Gillard's main opponent, Tony Abbott, is a staunch monarchist.

Up until now the question of an Australian republic has hardly featured in this election campaign."

My daughter is doing a project in English and she has chosen the Queen of England as her best friend even though she lives in Spain and her Father being Spanish! maybe next time we visit England we will get a chance to see you, look after yourself and family and as always God Bless.

i arrived to sydney and i feld am in free country the reason i start to like the queen elizabeth || is my father and i see her personalty is deffrient than another famous even she is intresting to see ger in news or tv. but it is not i thought she is absalutly diffrient

she is no better than any of us, why praise her this way. I FOUND INSULTING AND RIDICULUS THAT THIS PEOPLE STILL HOLD TITLES SUCH AS HRH OR HM. Why should they be referred as to his/her highness or majesty when they are just like us. by giving them these titles we are putting ourselves lower than them which is no good
