Ali Khamenei is really the Shah of the Imperial State of Iran. He uses a constitutional system and Islam and anything else that comes in handy to bribe, repress or satisfy the people so as to stay in power.

Of course, he has to be a descendent of Mohammed. That would make him related to the Saudi Royal Family, Saddam Hussein, Turkmenbashi, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Nasser, Gadaffi and all the rest who also claim the same thing!!

Devious, cunning, unpredictable and divisive is how to describe his politics. To not be fooled by his "anti-Western" rhetoric. He is actually an important cog in the wheel of the Western/OPEC deals and is tolerated by most Western countries inclusive of the US!! He would not be in power as long as he has been if he was really anti-US and anti-Israel. As I said, this man is devious and cunning beyond belief. He and the current Republic of Iran also are one and the same: when Ali Khamenei dies, Iran as we know it dies. What changes will come we do not know but Khamenei is the man holding this restive, repressed, war-jaded nation somewhat together. There are rumours he is not in the best health. His supporters love him, his opponents are waiting for him to die because they feel they can benefit greater then. So, Khamenei is Iran to all intents and purposes now. And, yes, the West want him alive and ruling for as long as possible!
