Jan Fredericks Wayne, NJ | Posted at 7:19am on Friday, September 21, 2007 | It would be nice if 'evangelical leaders' didn't promote hunting and animal cruelty by feeding their stomachs with God's creatures who lived their whole lives in agony. The Bible says in Hebrews 4:13 that we will all give an account for every creature.
Greed, gluttony and living by worldly standards (which includes the agri-business) is sadly a part of our Christianity. Those who support animal cruelty and lead others to partake in it with their chicken, roast beef, steak, pork, fish, and ice cream socials will need to answer God.
Factory farming was conveniently left out of "An Inconvenient Truth". The only light bulbs we need to change is the one in our heads. Changing what we put in our stomachs will significantly help the environment and stop cruelty to God's creatures. God put them in our care to protect. Christians, especially should be the hands, feet and voice of Christ who was compassionate. Our health will also benefit.
Shame on our Christian leaders for promoting the lies of the agri-business. Dairy and meat are bad for us, the environment, the poor in other countries (we take their land, resources, water, and grain from them), and the animals who suffer at the hands of people (made in God's image)! There is nothing 'moral' about animal cruelty.
They are poor representatives/ambassadors/evangelists/pastors/leaders/teachers for Christ.
