That Poor Pathetic Man!
Donald Trump is a real estate guru, known for saying "You're fired!" on The Apprentice.
The feud between the gals of The View and Donald Trump has been dropped and O'Donnell has the last laugh. Apparently, Trump attempted to tattle on Barbara Walters in a letter delivered by the press to Rosie O'Donnell alleging Walters called the comedienne a pig. Despite rumours of Walter's dissatisfaction with O'Donnell, the two presented a united front with Walter coldly dismissing Trump as "that poor, pathetic man." Trump stood by his statement. Walter's choice to support O'Donnell most likely stemmed from the increased ratings she brought The View while ratings of Trump's The Apprentice went down the tube.
Trump was raised in Queens New York. His father, Fred Trump, was a real estate developer who operated reasonably-priced rental buildings. He was the fourth of five siblings. At 13, Trump attended the New York Military Academy; his parents hoped that the school would help him direct his assertiveness.
Trump's career began with his father's company. In the 1980s his greatest skill was his ability to make deals. With little collateral, he was able to build an empire not only in real estate, but also casinos and sports. However, the effects of the 1990 recession left him unable to make his loan payments, and he was forced into bankruptcy. By 1994 he was able to eliminate much of his debt and managed to keep the Trump Tower in New York City and three of his casinos in Atlantic City. The Trump Organization came under new ownership where he continued to build.
Trumps father died in 1999. Creditors got stuck with the past losses. Donald walked away from his empire unscathed.
Trump's NBC reality show, The Apprentice, first aired in 2004. The first year the show aired, Trump was paid $50,000 per episode; when the show became a hit, he reportedly earning $3,000,000 per episode, making him one of the highest paid TV personalities. Trump has been a TV pitchman for years, appearing in television commercials for Pizza Hut, Dominos and Visa Card.
Trump has been married three times: first to Ivana Zelnickova, with whom he had three children with; second to Marla Maples, with whom he had one child with -- they divorced on June 1999. He married Melanija Knavs on January 22, 2005 in Palm Beach, Florida.
