Brad Pitt is one of America's most wide-known actors. His relationships with Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie have been major media sources.

He was born into a Southern Baptist family, but raised primarily in Springfield, Missouri. In high school he was involved in student government, sports, school musicals, and debate. In college he was two credits shy of graduating with a degree in journalism before he pursued a career in Hollywood. Before he was able to support himself solely through his acting, he worked as a chauffeur, furniture mover, and a mascot for Pollo Loco.

In the late 80's he began acting in small roles on television series such as Dallas, thirtysomething. 21 Jump Street, Freddy's Nightmares, Another World, Growing Pains, and Head of the Class. His first starring role was in The Dark Side of the Sun. HOwever, most of the film footage was lost because a war broke out in Yugoslavia where the filming was taking place; it was recovered in 1997. Thelma & Louise was released in 1991, the drama A River Runs Through It and Se7en. Other films include the following: Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall, The Devil's Own, Meet Joe Black, Fight Club, The Mexican, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, Troy and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Pitt starred in, Seven Years in Tibet, was released in 1997, which reviewed China's invasion of Tibet. The film was hailed by Tibetan nationalist and resulted in Brad Pitt and David Thewlis being banned from entering China.

Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow were involved in a long-term relationship and were engaged to be married in December 1996. However, the couple split in June 1997. Pitt married Jennifer Aniston in 2000; their separation was announced on January 7, 2005. The couple were divorced in March of that same year. Soon after the divorce Pitt began dating actress, Angelina Jolie. He has legally adopted Angelina Jolie's two children, Maddox and Zahara. The couple's third child, Shiloh Nouvel Pitt-Jolie, was born in May 2006.

He is a supporter of research for diseases, such as AIDS. He claims a bipartisan perspective and works with both parties to fight poverty and improve the environment. He is a spokesperson for the ONE campaign.

In 1995 he was nominated for the Academy Award, Best Supporting Actor, for his performance in Twelve Monkeys.
