Rev 'Em Up, Reynolds!Reynolds is an American actor, best remembered as the "Bandit" in Smokey and the Bandit.
Reynolds attended Florida State University on a football scholarship, and become an all-star Southern Conference halfback. However, in 1955, he suffered from a knee injury and after a car accident he returned home to Riviera Beach to recuperate. He began taking classes at the local Junior College, Palm Beach. He met a professor, Watson B. Duncan III, who encouraged a career in acting. He was drafted to the Baltimore Colts, but never played professional football.
Reynolds' acting career began as a stunt man for television. He was soon discovered and signed to an acting contract; his first series was Riverboat in the 1950s. His Broadway debut was in Look, We've Come Through.
The 1990s opened a wave of success for Reynolds. He was the star of television series Evening Shade. Other successful films include, Striptease and Boogie Nights.
In 2005, Reynolds co-starred in two remakes: The Dukes of Hazzard and The Longest Yard. As of May 2006, he began appearing in Miller Lite commercials.
He has been romantically involved with Dinah Shore, Sally Field, Brenda Vaccaro, Susan Clark, and Adrienne Barbeau. Reynolds was married to Judy Carne from 1963-1965; Carne accused Reynolds of domestic violence. He also married Loni Anderson from 1988-1993. He published an autobiography, My Life, in 1994. | |
