Love is Hole
Courtney Love was a singer for the rock band Hole. She is now an actress, model, and solo artist. She is probably best-known as the widow of Kurt Cobain.
Love is the daughter of Hank Harrison, the manager of Grateful Dead; her mother is Linda Carrol, a therapist. Love grew-up with her mother who had five husbands. She was raised in hippie communes and claims that she was given LSD as a child. Her parents, however, deny this. She was a troubled teen, and in and out of reform schools and juvenile halls. She eventually broke away, and on a trust fund, traveled the US, UK, and several European countries, including Ireland. She worked as a stripper in Japan. By 22, she returned to the states, eventually moving to Los Angeles.
Her music career began in the early 80s when she became the lead singer of the band Faith No More. She also played in a all-female pop band, Sugar Baby Doll with Kat Bjelland. In 1991, Love formed the band "Hole." It's debut was very popular in British alternative press, however attracted little attention in the US. After her And Kurt Cobain's marriage, Hole became more popular in the US.
In a 1992 interview with Vanity Fair, the article titled "Strange Love," said that Love admitted to taking heroin during the early stages of her pregnancy. She claims to have been misquoted; she told the author Lynn Hirchberg that she quit using the drug once she learned she was pregnant.
Husband, Kurt Cobain, committed suicide in April 1994. Since, there has been speculation that Cobain's suicide was instigated by Love, or that he was murdered.
Love pleaded guilty to drug possession in the form of painkillers in 2003. She failed to appear at a preliminary hearing, and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Love was arrested on March 19, 2004 for throwing a microphone stand into a New York City crowd, and hitting a man in the head. That same night, she flashed her breasts at David Letterman on his late night show several times.
On August 19, 2005 Love was put into a 28-day drug treatment program. She violated the terms of her probation in the program, and was forced into a 6 month lock down rehab.
Love is still popular in Japan.
