-- January 12, 2011 -- It's red carpet season and the stars are getting ready for the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Some movie stars are more loved than others and this year, America's favorite movie star is Captain Jack himself, Johnny Depp who moves up from being number 2 last year. Denzel Washington also moves up one notch this year from number 3 to number 2. And the Duke, John Wayne, moves from number 7 to number 3. John Wayne also has the distinction of being the only actor to be on this list every year since 1994.

Im 20years old and the biggest denzel fan ever, he is an amazing actor and his just perfect in every way.Im not really into movies but since I watched malcom x i realized that he could act really well. Now I always look out for his movies and ive recently watched trainning day and man on fire and he is so really good looking.

Denzel Washington is an award winning actor best-known for his role as a cop in Training Day.
Washington's father was a Pentecostal minister; his mother, a beauty parlour owner. His father's religion was so strict that his parents banned Washington from watching movies. His parents seperated, and during this time Washington developed behavioral problems; several of his friends went to prison. His mother's reaction was to send him to a preparatory school and later to Fordham University, where his acting abilities surfaced.
Washington got his first acting role in 1975 in a television movie called Wilma. While filming Wilma he met Pauletta Washington, who later became his wife. Washington's work became widely known when he starred in television drama St. Elsewhere. He was on the series for its entire six-year run.
In 1992, Washington played one of the most critically acclaimed roles at Malcolm X. Martin Scorsese named the movie one of the ten best films of the 1990s. This role turned him into a star. In his 1995 film, Vituosity,Washington refused to kiss co-star Kelly Lynch. He said, in a interview with Jet Magazine, that he "felt strongly that the white males, who were the target audience of this movie, would not want to see him kiss a white woman." In 1998, however, he had a sex scene with Milla Jovovich in Spike Lee's He Got Game.
His 1999 movie, The Hurricane, earned him a Golden Globe in 2000. He was nominated for and won Best Actor for his performance in Training Day (2002). He announced that he would only be willing to play villians in his films.
