Drew Barrymore is an actress and producer from a long line of celebrity actors. Her grandfather was John Barrymore. She is also the great-niece of Lionel Barrymore and Ethel Barrymore, and a distant relative of Shirley Temple.
Barrymore began her career at 11 months in a dog food commercial. She became a famous child actor through her role in E.T. at the age of seven. Her childhood became troubled when she began drinking alcohol at the age of nine, and smoking marijuana at 10. Overcoming the addictions continued throughout her teens.
Barrymore is known for her roles in romantic comedies including The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. Recently, she has appeared in more dramatic roles such as Riding in Cars With Boys, a film based upon the life story of Beverly D'Onofiro. In February, 2004, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
She was married to Jeremy Thomas, a Welsh bartender from March until April of 1994, as well as Tom Green from July 2001 until October 2002. Presently, she is involved with Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes. Publicly she has announced her bisexuality.
