Your comments about Eminem
Eminem is one of America's most popular and most controversial rappers, infamous for his provocative lyrics.
Eminem, Marshall Mathers by birth, started rapping when he was a teenager in Detroit Michigan. Dr. Dre saw the talent of the young rapper in his self-produced The Slim Shady EP, and agreed to help him produce The Slim Shady LP. The record brought Eminem instant fame as a radio and video superstar; he was a white rapper who wasn't afraid to be vulgar.
Eminem has been through several legal battles with his mother and his first wife, which all worked to heighten his fame. In fact, most of his popularity has come from his deep exploration of anger and statements about the ways he feels he is treated. Some commom topics are drugs, his childhood and mother, being white in a black buisness, his ex-wife, raising his daughter, America and government, and poking fun at pop culture.
He released the best-selling album The Eminem Show in 2002. It features the single "Without Me," a sequel to the the song "The Real Slim Shady" from his last album. This album carried the same anger as his previous, but was considerably less inflammatory.
Eminem made a Hollywood acting debut with 8 Mile, an autobiographical story of his up-bringing and early musical career. He recorded the song "Lose Yourself" for the soundtrack, which won an Academy Award for best song.
Eminem's album, Curtain Call, was released on December 6, 2005. A track was released on Curtian Call entitled "When I'm Gone." The provocative lyrics suggest the destructive power in Eminem's life: "Find a gun on the ground/ cock it, put it to my brain/ scream Die Shady! and pop it."
Hailie Jade Scott is Eminem's the daughter from his marriage with Kimberly Ann Scott. Hailie sings with her father in the song "My Dad's Gone Crazy." Many of his songs reference her or are dedicated completely to her. He also adopted Alaina Mathers, the daughter of his ex-wife's twin sister, raising her as Hailie's sister.
