Clooney comes from a show business family. His aunt is singer Rosemary Clooney; his father Nick Clooney is a newscaster and chat show host. After Clooney dropped out of college, he spent a lot of time as a "struggling actor," riding his bike to auditions.
Clooney's first major acting role was on E.R. Before E.R. he had a few minor roles on The Facts of Life from 1985 to 1987 and on Roseanne from 1988-1989 as the womanizing boss, Booker.
In 1999 he left E.R. to begin working on a film career. His movies include Out of Sight with Jennifer Lopez and The Perfect Storm. He then teamed up with Steven Soderbergh for Ocean's Eleven -- a remake of the Sinatra film from 1960. Ocean's Eleven broke box office records when it opened in December 2002. He also starred in O, Brother, Where Art Thou?, Solaris, and Ocean's Twelve.
Clooney is a politically ourspoken supporter of the Democratic party and has an ongoing feud with Bill O'Reilly of Fox News Channel. His responses to interview question's, which are often practical jokes, has gained a reputation. He has an interest in directing and screenwriting, and even doing camera work. He currently spends a lot of his time at his villa on Lake Como in Italy. |
