Hugh Grant in an English actor known for lightweight roles as an Englishman in American movies. He has also appeared in some bad English movies, such as Love Actually.

Grant grew up in London, England with one brother, James Grant. After graduation from Latymer Upper School for boys, Grant studied English at New College, Oxford through a scholarship. During this time he became introduced to theater and acted features such as Hamlet, which he performed in Star Trek costumes.

Grant's film debut happened in 1982 with the film Privileged, which was financed by Oxford. However, her didn't find big screen success until Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994). The following year he had a starring role in Sense and Sensibility (1995) However, shortly after he was arrested in Hollywood after being caught receiving oral sex from a prostitute named Divine Brown.

It wasn't until 1999 when he starred in Notting Hill and then Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) that he found major success. He collaborated with Richard Curtis in 2003 in the romantic comedy, Love Actually. Thomas Sangster, Sam in Love Actually is Grant's second cousin.

Grant had dated actress Elizabeth Hurley for years, but his brief encounter with Divine Brown ultimately put and end to that relationship. He has since been romantically involved with British heiress, Jemima Goldsmith.
