Jack Nicholson is an american actor made famous for his roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, and As Good As it Gets. Nicholson has the most Oscar nominations of any male actor.

Nicholson's most recent film, Rob Reiner's The Bucket List, is scheduled for release in 2007.

Jack Nicholson (John Joseph Nicholson) was born in Neptune, New Jersey to showgirl, June Francis Nicholson. Ms. Nicholson had a shot-gun marriage to showman Donald Furcillo, then already married at the time, and as yet an unconfirmed father of Nicholson. Nicholson was raised by his grandparents John J. Nicholson and Ethel May Rhoads in Neptune and attended Manasquan High School.

Nicholson began his movie career as actor, writer, and producer under the tutelage of B-film producer, Roger William Corman. His screen debut came with Corman's The Cry Baby Killer (1958) followed by appearances in The Little Shop of Horrors (1960), The Raven (1963) and The Terror (1963), co-starring former wife Sandra Knight. In addition to film, Nicholson made two television appearances on The Andy Griffith Show between 1966 and 1967.

As a writer, Nicholson wrote the films Thunder Island (1963), Flight to Fury (1964), Ride in the Whirlwind (1965) and The Monkees' Vehicle Head (1968). However, it wasn't until his 1967 film The Trip that he received success as a writer. The LSD movie starred Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper leading to Nicholson's acting role as hard-drinking lawyer George Hanson in the famed Easy Rider.

It was his role in Easy Rider that brought him national attention and his first Oscar nomination for best actor. Subsequently, he was nominated three more times for best actor for his performance in the films Five Easy Pieces (1970), The Last Detail (1973), and Chinatown (1974). In 1975 it was his portrayal of Randall P. Murphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest that earned him his first Academy Award for best actor. Other Oscar's include best supporting actor in Terms of Endearment (1983) and best actor in As Good As It Gets (1997).

His iconic image became established in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980), his role as the Joker in Batman (1989), and as Col. Nathan R. Jessep in A Few Good Men (1992).

His most recent films include: About Schmidt (2002), Something's Gotta Give (2003), and Martin Scorsese's The Departed (2006).

He had a seventeen year relationship with Angelica Houston. His relationship with Houston ended with news of the pregnancy of Rebecca Broussard with Jack's fourth child, Lorraine Nicholson (1990). Following the birth of Lorraine, came the couples second child, Raymond (1991). His most recent child is a girl born roughly around 1998 to former waitress Jennine Gourin.
