Your comments about Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress. She is known for her wild dance moves and innovative music videos.
Janet Jackson is the little sister of the Jackson brothers clan, including Michael Jackson. From an early age her interest in music was evident -- she wrote her first song when she was five. She participated in many recordings with her family, particularly with brother Michael and sister LaToya.
Her first album was self-titled and released in 1982. The albym reached #6 on the Billboard R & B charts, spent 45 weeks in the Top 50, and sold over a quarter million copies in the US. The albums singles include "Young Love," "Say You Do," and "Come Give Your Love To Me."
At eighteen, Jackson released her second album, Dream Street. The album reached #19 on the R & B charts, and only sold half of what her debut album sold. Many critics thought her modest success was because she had to compete with her brother Michael for pop music prominence, and his albums already showed a high degree of success.
Producer John McClain noticed that talent of Jackson, and decided to mentor her by recruiting producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to revive her career. Soon after Jackson crafted one of the best produced records of the time, Control. The album was released in 1986 and carried several smash hits like "What Have You Done For Me Lately," "Nasty," and "When I Think of You." The album hit number one soon after its release and sold over five million copies in the US alone.
Jackson found success as an actress working with director John Singleton to produce the highly acclaimed film, Poetic Justice. The movie gave her the image of a tough, South Central L.A. hairdresser, which carried over to her music. She produced her fifth album with a new attitude and a more outword sexual tone. Needless to say, the album was deeply provocative. Released in May, 1993, the album was simply titled Janet. Hits include "That's The Way Love Goes," "If," "Again," and "Any Time, Any Place." The album was popular worldwide, selling nearly 17 million copies.
Her eighth album came out in 2001, titled "All For You." The album reached #1 and became a huge seller.
During the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXVII, Jackson performed a song/dance with pop singer Justin Timberlake. During this live performance, Jackson's right breast was exposed only covered by a star-shaped nipple cover. The incident was called a "wardrobe malfunction."
