Mel is an a****** for the way he treats women. I mean threating to hit your girlfriend in the head with a bat is pretty stupid, I mean why not just choke her out? Sorry folks this time he went too far.

Mel Gibson is a great story teller. He is feisty and does not take himself too seriously. When he goes crazy, he's off the wall. He seems a very private person. His films are great. People / the media have tried to pigeon-hole him and he succeeds in surprising them most of the time, which is great. Go Mel, keep up the good work!!! God bless Mel and his family

Mel Buys Japanese Island as Private Getaway!

Mel Gibson is a movie star and a devout Catholic who is known as the producer and director of the controversial movie The Passion of the Christ and the historical drama Braveheart.

Gibson got his first big break with the release of the movie The Road Warrior (1981), the sequel to the low-budget action movie Mad Max (1979), in which he also starred. Gibson became a superstar with the release of Lethal Weapon (1987), which led to five sequels in twelve years.

The list of Hollywood movies starring Mel Gibson is a mile long. He has appeared in a wide range of action movies, dramas and romantic comedies including Air America, Ransom and The Patriot. He took the lead in the 1990 version of Hamlet, directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Gibson directed, produced, and also starred in Braveheart (1995), which earned him Oscars for best picture and best director. He also voiced the lead role as an animated rooster in the Nick Park and Peter Lord movie Chicken Run (2000).

In 2004 Gibson produced, financed and directed the controversial film The Passion of the Christ, which recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus Christ. The Passion of the Christ has been praised as an unflinching portrayal of the suffering of Jesus, and condemned as an overwrought and anti-semitic rant that led to hate crimes against jews. The film made $370 million at the U.S. box office and ranks among the top grossing movies of all time.

Contrary to popular belief, Gibson is an American citizen born in New York state. He acquired an Australian accent when he moved to Australia as as a teenager, in 1968. Later he studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, Australia.

Gibson has very conservative political views and supports fundamental Catholic beliefs. He is married to Robyn Moore and has seven children.

He purchased Mago Island in 2005 from Japan's Tokyu corporation for $15 million. Natives protested his plan to turn the island into a private getaway.

Charges of anti-semitism against Gibson flared again in July 2006, when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. After being stopped, he launched into a tirade about "(expletive) jews" who are "responsible for all the wars in the world." Days later, Gibson excused his behavior by saying that he has "battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life." In August 2006 Gibson was sentenced to three years probation. He also paid a fine and attended alcohol rehabilitation classes.
