There is no one who can do what Meryl does for people! She is so down to earth and the total opposite of all the Hollywood crap. She stands tall and is full of hilarious comments and confidence. Meryl Streep is a hero. She is the ray of sun in my rainy day :) I hope I get the chance in my life to tell her how much she has done for me.

Meryl Streep is an actress who has received numerous awards for her work in movies and television; she was been regarded as one of the best in her field.
Streep's father, Harry Streep Jr., was a pharmaceutical executive of Dutch descent; her motherr, Mary was an artist; she is of Irish, Swiss, and English descent. She was raised in Bernardsville, New jersey.
Streep married Don Gummer in 1979; the couple have four children: Henry, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa. Her family is a very important aspect of her life. She refers to herself as "an actress who goes home to her family when I'm finished working."
After college her first film appearances were in Julia and The Deer Hunter. Streep was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Deer Hunter. She has been nominated 13 times--10 for Best Actress and 3 for Best Supporting Actress. She is the most-nominated actor of all time.
During the 1980s her career climbed steadily. She appeared in Manhattan, The French Lietenant's Woman, Silkwood, and Out of Africa, only to list a few. She earned a reputation for playing "cold" characters with accents; characters that weren't humanized to the American audience. So, in 1990 she began playing roles with greater variety, including Death Becomes Her, The Bridges of Madison County, and Music of the Heart,-- for which she learned to play the violin.
Some of Steep's most recent work include her role alongside Nicolas Cage in Adaptation; she also played four different roles in HBO's Angels in America; she starred with Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore in The Hours. Her most recent film release was Prime, a comedy with Uma Thurman. In 2006, Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion as well as The Devil Wears Prada will be released.
