Renee Zellweger is is an Academy Award winning actress, best known for her roles in Jerry Maguire, Chicago, and Cold Mountain.
Zellweger grew up in a Houston suburb. In high school, she was both a cheerleader, gymnast, and also participated in drama club. During college she took a few acting classes because she needed them to fulfil her graduation requirements. The classes helped her realize her love for acting. During college, she supported herself by working as a waitress.
Fresh out of college, Zellweger pursued her acting career by auditioning for commercials and small films in Texas. Her break was her role in Jerry Maguire, co-starring Tom Cruise. She since received Academy Award nominations for her roles in Bridget Jones' Diary, and Chicago. She won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Cold Mountain in 2004.
Zellweger married Kenny Chesney on May 9, 2005. They were only married for four months before they announced their plans for annulment.
