There are no words that do him justice. I love him and his music. You need only listen to the words of the many songs he has written, it's like a window into his soul. He is an exemplary human being, with his only shortcoming , that I see, being that he tried to love too many women at once. A shame he couldn't be cloned.
The more I learn about him ,the more I admire him. Is he too old to run for president?

Honky-Tonk Singer Always On My Mind
Willie Hugh Nelson is a country singer and songwriter from Texas who has written and performed many hit songs since getting his start in the late 1950's. He achieved fame as a leader of the outlaw country movement of the 1970's and is widely regarded as one of the greatest stars of country music.
Nelson was born and raised in Abbott, Texas, the son of Myrle and Ira D. Nelson. Ira was a mechanic and pool hall owner. In high school he played with friends in the band Bohemian Fiddlers. During the time he also worked as a disc jockey for local radio stations.
He began his professional music career in 1956 when he moved to Vancouver, Washington, where he played in local bars and worked as a radio announcer.
Nelson then moved to Tennessee in search of a recording contract. He wrote songs and played bass in a band called Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys. A gifted songwriter, he wrote many songs that became hits in the 1960's, including "Funny How Time Slips Away" (Billy Walker), "Hello Walls" (Faron Young) and "Crazy" (Patsy Cline).
After struggling to succeed in Nashville, Nelson moved to Austin, Texas. The early 1970's found him exploring different combinations of music styles, including country, rock, swing, jazz and folk.
Nelson's album Red Headed Stranger, released in 1975, was critically acclaimed and made him massively popular. He had assistance from Waylon Jennings in making the album a success and promoting the album's cover "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." The pair soon created a new genre of country music called outlaw country, which departed from Nashville standards by incorporating rock music themes and styles.
Nelson's chart topping hits from the 1970's include "Good Hearted Woman," "Rememeber Me," "If You've Got the Money I've Got the Time," Uncloudy Day," and "I Love You a Thousand Ways."
In the 1980's he released a series of hit singles including "Always on my Mind," "On the Road Again" and "To All the Girls I've Loved Before," a duet with Julio Iglesias. The 1980's also saw him form a group called The Highwaymen, with Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash. The group was a great success, achieving platinum record sales and touring the world. In 1985 he established the Farm Aid concerts.
The Internal Revenue Service came calling in 1990, demanding that Nelson pay $16.7 million in back taxes. The IRS seized most of his assets to help pay the bill. He released The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories? as a double album, with all profits going to the IRS. Many of his assets were auctioned and purchased by friends, who gave his possessions back to him or rented them at a nominal fee. His debts were paid by 1993.
In 2004 Nelson helped form a company called Willie Nelson's Biodiesel, which markets biodiesel fuel to truck stops. The company creates fuel made from oils, mainly of soybeans, that burns in diesel engines.
A long time marijuana smoker, he works with the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) to decriminalize marijuana possession. He hosted his first annual Willie Nelson & NORMAL Benefit Golf Tournament in 2005.
Nelson has appeared in several films including The Electric Horseman, Honeysuckle Rose and Stagecoach (a television movie with Johnny Cash). He has also made guest appearances on the television programs The Simpsons, Monk and King of the Hill.
Willie Nelson has been married five times and has fathered ten children. His first wife was Martha Matthews (married from 1952-1962). He married Shirley Collie in 1963, Connie Koepke in 1971, LA Hopkins in 1989 and Annie D'Angelo in 1991.
