Watered-Down Rapper Receives Wide Approval!Will Smith is known for his sustained fame in two major entertainment arenas: acting and music. He became famous for his hit "Summertime"; as the Fresh Prince of Bellair; and in the film Men In Black.
Smith is the second of four children and was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a student, he was very bright, and received an 800 on the verbal portion of his SAT test.
Smith started out rapping with DJ Jazzy Jeff as the Fresh Prince. The duo's songs, "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Summertime," appealed to mainstream america for the playful lyrics and smooth beats. The duo won the first Grammy in the Rap category in 1988. In 1990 NBC noticed the charismatic performer and singed him to a contract for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show ran for six seasons, ending in 1996.
In 1996, Smith began a solo music career and starred in a series of films including, Independence Day (1996), and Men in Black (1997). These two films earned him critical praise. Some of the hit singles released during this time include his #1 hit theme song "Men in Black," and "Getting Jiggy Wit It," which became a late-90s catch phase, and "Just the Two of Us," a reflection of his relationship with his eldest son, Trey. His first two solo albums went platinum.
Smith's role in the movie Ali (2001), a depiction of the boxer Muhammad Ali, earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
In 2005 Smith produced and starred in Hitch which proved a favorite for Will's adoring lady fans.
Smith also produced and starred in The Pursuit of Happiness (2006), a performance for which he was nominated Best Actor.
Smith's other productions to be released include, I am Legend (2007) and Time Share (2008).
In 1992, Smith married Sheree Zampino. They have one son, Willard Christopher III, known more commonly as Trey. Sharee and Smith divorced in 1995. Smith then married actress Jada Pinkett in 1997; together, they have two children: Jaden Christopher Syre (1998) and Willow Camille Reign (2000).

We as black americans need more good black males because so many of our children are lost, also have to many bad things to look up too.
