Highest Paid Woman in Broadcast NewsDiane Sawyer is the anchor of ABC'S Good Morning America.
Sawyer was raised in Glasgow, Kentucky. After she received a her degree in English, she became a reporter fro WLKY-TV in Louisville, Kentucky until 1970. Later she was higher as a white house press secretary for Ron Ziegler -- in this position she served the Richard Nixon Administration through his resignation in 1974. During this time she was considered a strong suspect for being Deep Throat during the Watergate scandal. She received a public denial from Bob Woodward, among six other people.
She became a political correspondent for CBS and a co-anchor for the CBS Morning News in 1981. She became the correspondent for 60 Minutes in 1984, a position she held for five years. Sawyer worked for ABC to co-anchor Primetime Live in 1989.
In the fall of 1994, Sawyer signed a $7 million contract, which made her the highest paid woman in broadcast news. She married director Mike Nichols in 1988. | |
