He Thinks the Iraq War was a Great Idea!Tony Blair is a British politician who was chosen as the leader of the Labour Party in 1994. Soon after he became prime minister of the United Kingdom. He kept the job until June 2007, when Gordon Brown replaced him as prime minister and leader of the Labour Party.
Blair is the second son of Leo Blair and Hazel Corscadden, and raised Protestant in Adelaide, Australia and Durham England. During college he was in a rock band called Ugly Rumors where he sang and played guitar. After he graduated from Oxford University, he enrolled as a pupil barrister and met his wife, Cherie Booth. The two married in 1980.
Blair won the seat of Sedgefield in the 1983 General Election at the age of 30. He rose in the ranks quickly: he served as a trade industry spokesman and was soon elected to the Shadow Cabinet in 1988 where he was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Energy.
Blair launched his campaign to lead the Labour Party after John Smith died unexpectedly in 1994. He was elected by a landslide at the age of 43, and became the youngest Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in 1812. Blair was re-elected in the 2001 general election; this time is most remembered for his dealing with foreign issues, including the "war on terror." The Labour Party elected Blair for a third term in May 2005.
Critics say that Blair's government's policies moved too far to the right and he maintained an insufficient emphasis on Labour priorities. He is an ally and friend of President George W. Bush, and sent British forces to participate in the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Blair supported the weapons of mass destruction allegations of the United States and made a strong case against Saddam Hussein. After the war, evidence surfaced that the claims of weapons of mass destruction were not valid. During this time Blair's statements around the issue became a public interest, and many people became suspicious of his judgment in the matter.
In 2003 he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his support of the United States in the Iraq War. He has been referred to as "Bush's poodle" and "Governor of the 51st state" because of his close ties to the US. | |

We miss him so much now in Britain, particularly that they replaced him with Gordon Brown. What a silly - no STUPID - thing for his party to do. No-one asked us, the voters, what we thought. We had already voted for his party under his leadership a historical THREE times.
The all-knowing press TOLD us that we didn't want him any more. The press and the Labour party itself are culpable in his demise and thus, to some extent, for the state of the country right now.
I believe that Blair was actually right about Iraq, though at first I wasn't so sure. The more I have studied this man, the more convinced I have become that he had it right.
Google "keep tony blair".
